What is the V-TRIP™

V-TRIP™ is a multimedia project that has, through mixed use of photography and computer technologies, the purpose of recreating virtually places, architecture and views of the real world.

By using the V-TRIP™ it is possibile to visit virtual spaces through a sequence of paths that are realized with Flash film clips which link between them “panoramic spots”; points and places that are considered crucial in the recreated context in question (for example, a square in a historical centre, or a particularly important room in a museum). And as a real visitor would do in the physical space, the V-TRIP user moves along the virtual path following a pause-and-motion scheme.

One of the most important aspects of the V- TRIP™ project is its higher level of interactivity that is at the user’s disposal. The virtual route is repeatable, exactly as it would be in a real experience, and the visitor interacts independently with the recreated environment; that is, the visitor has the possibility to go through the same route several times and to choose each time the stages he or she wishes to follow. The instruments at the user’s disposal include the possibility to zoom as the visitor stops at a detail, to turn 360° at “panoramic spots”, and to choose alternative routes. During the virtual visit pieces of information that are useful for getting to know a place and its characteristics appear in a specially provided space, and the visitor can check moment by moment his or her position on a interactive map. Moreover, the map offers the possibility to enter any “panoramic spot” at any moment. The possibility of introducing audio clips with either didactic or “emotional” contents (depending on the needs) makes the experience even more complete.

The themes that are worth of a closer study or those that can’t be included in the 360° representations (for example the paintings in a room or the architectural details of the buildings around a square) are displayed with a series of traditional photo galleries.

At the planning stage of a V-TRIP™ product, the graphic appearance is particularly taken care of. The interface must be attractive and at the same time simple and intuitive, so that it appears easily usable for anyone, also for someone who is taking the first steps in using a personal computer.

V-TRIP™ is a product that can be adapted to different kind of environments and situations and that can meet the needs and requirements that are characteristic to each ambient in which it is used:

historical and cultural environments (museums, historical buildings, castles)

institutional communication; promoting of a certain territory

corporate environments

commercial environments

It is possible to make use of the V-TRIP™ both on-line as a website, and off-line on an appropriate multimedia medium (CD-Rom, DVD, Personal Computer).

From 2008 on V-TRIP™ is registered at the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (U.I.B.M.; Ufficio Italiano Brevetti e Marchi).
